Since it is April 1st, I feel like I ought to have prepared a glowing review of Twilight or The Communist Manifesto or something. Unfortunately, I didn’t think that far ahead. This is, however, a day to laugh so please enjoy a few funny memes I found on Pinterest:
I am taking my youth group girls to see the new Beauty in the Beast movie in a few weeks and I feel like this calls for a serious conversation about hair.
Now in general, I feel redheads are vastly underrepresented in pop culture. However, my sister was ranting the other day about the lack of brunette princesses, and I think she makes a very legit point. Take a look at this:
5 of these princesses have black hair. Three have blond hair. Two have red hair. Only one is a brunette!
Add in Anna and Elsa…
We have 5 black haired princesses, three blonds, three redheads, one brunette and one sort of blond sort of white haired ice Queen.
Now, there are a few less popular/not recognized Disney leading ladies who are brunettes, like Jane. (Actually, just Jane. I just looked it up and Megara is supposed to have auburn like hair.) And anyway, at the same time, you add another red head, another blond, and another black haired princess.
No matter how far you expand…
And who you include…
Brunettes really only have one good princess…
(is that supposed to be Moana on the end?)
And that is Belle!
It is another late night for me, so enjoy a few of my new favorite memes… “Superhero Texts”!
I have made an amazing discovery. My favorite movie, Laura (1944), was first…A BOOK!
I know! I am so excited. From what I can tell on Goodreads, the book is even better than the movie! Which isn’t too surprising, but you can never be too careful with your favorite movie.
I currently have so many books checked out from the library that I’ve banned myself from getting more, otherwise I would have had this book on hold in seconds. As it is, this news has got me like..
Several years ago I wrote a blog post about Literary Fernweh. The post is so long it makes me laugh! I saw this image today, however, and it made me think of it. Literary Fernweh: A love for, and a wish to be, in a place that only exists in a book! It is such a beautiful feeling.
I re-watched Pride and Prejudice again last night and was inspired! Enjoy some more Pride and Prejudice memes.
