Forced Manicures

I went in for a pedicure yesterday which started out normally enough until my pedicurist saw my fingers. Rather appalled, he then demanded:

“You don’t take care of your nails?!”

He then rattled something off in Vietnamese, sending his wife and co-owner bustling over. She tsked and asked if I wanted gel nails or regular.

Surprised because I did not plan to get either, I said I would prefer regular nails. She tsked and suggested perhaps I wanted natural looking nails?

I looked down at my sparkly, purple toenails and agreed that yes, I wanted natural looking fingernails.

She seemed resigned.

I got pale pink nails.

It was actually more needed than I realize and in retrospect I didn’t tip her nearly enough. I’m going back.

Girls Day Out

Is every day girls’ day when you live with all women?

Well, today truly was. I dragged my very introverted roommate out to get a pedicure. She had never had one because it would have required scheduling something over the phone.

Then we got pizza and came back and I forced her to watch a Korean drama with me. (W ❤ )

I also got to talk with my sister on the phone for two hours which was THE BEST.

And did I mention it was 70 degrees and sunny all day?

Be jealous.

Girls’ Night Out

Yesterday I had a charming girls’ night out with some of my fellow interns. We got mani-pedis, went out for Thai food, got ice cream, and concluded with the movie I Feel Pretty. 

I Feel Pretty was funny and not as vulgar as I expected. Not sure I would watch it again, though. It has great potential but never strays from the predictable and piles loads of angst onto otherwise good material.
