FB Friends

“Who is X and why am I friends with him on Facebook?” I ask Bethany.

“I don’t know,” she says. “Law school? Politics? Some politician dude?”

“No, I don’t recognize his face,” I tell her. “But he had a baby. Or his wife did.”

Bethany: “Well, is it a cute baby?”

Me: “Yeah.”

Bethany: “Don’t unfriend him then.”

There you go, folk, why I stay friends on Facebook with people I don’t remember.

Triggered Memes

I recently started seeing a new type of meme on Pinterest and it seriously cracks me up. According to knowyourmeme.com

“Trigger” is a term referring to any stimulus that evokes the memory of a traumatic event or episode. While the word is most commonly used in the context of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), it has been since adopted by those in the social justice blogosphere to refer to any topical issue that is deemed contentious or debatable, and to a lesser extent, the term has been also re-appropriated as an ironic term used by their detractors to criticize certain issues that may be seen as too trivial or irrelevant to discuss in length.”

Here are a few of my new favorites:

Over 500 Friends on Goodreads!

I try not to be one of those people who collects friends on social media just for the sake of collecting friends. There should be a purpose to it. Quality not quantity and all that….BUT I would be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy having lots of friends on my social media accounts. I hit quite a milestone yesterday with 500 friends on Goodreads!

Today I am actually up to 506 friends, because 4 people sent me friend requests and I saw 2 people who looked super interesting so I friended them and they accepted. So really, this post about 500 is more 506, but the principle remains. Goodreads is seriously the best. I love all the community on there! People and books, what could be better?
