TitleEmerald Blaze by Ilona Andrews

Publishing Date: August 25th 2020

This is book 5 in the series so I will skip the synopsis. Think magic, action, sisterly awesomeness. Maybe guys without shirts on.

And man, that is one hideous cover. And it is actually one of the better covers in this series. BUT I AM JUST REALLY, REALLY EXCITED FOR IT TO COME OUT

My old roommate got me hooked on this series and I blew through the first 4 books (and the two extra short stories) in under a week. And now I have to wait till August! Ahhhhhhhhhhh.

TitleReturn of the Thief by Megan Whalen Turner

Publishing Date: October 6th 2020

Goodreads Synopsis: The thrilling, twenty-years-in-the-making, conclusion to the New York Times–bestselling Queen’s Thief series, by Megan Whalen Turner. This beloved and award-winning series began with the acclaimed novel The Thief. It and four more stand-alone volumes bring to life a world of epics, myths, and legends, and feature one of the most charismatic and incorrigible characters of fiction, Eugenides the thief. Now more powerful and cunning than ever before, Eugenides must navigate a perilous future in this sweeping conclusion. [And a bunch of other stuff that would totally spoil the plot of the other books]

Honesty, I don’t know whether I’m excited or terrified of this book’s publication. It will be amazing, obviously. But I read the synopsis and I am 100% certain I am going to bawl my eyes out when I finish this series. Heck, I’m tearing up just thinking about it.

If you haven’t already read the Queen’s Thief series, I highly recommend checking it out. And yes, I know, the first one is boring but keep reading because I promise it gets so much better. Truly a one of a kind series fantasy series.

Can’t Wait Wednesday

I’m too sleepy to think of a more in-depth blog post tonight, so here we go:

Recipe for Persuasion (The Rajes, #2)

Title: Recipe for Persuasion by Sonali Dev

Publishing Date: May 26, 2020

I just finished Pride and Prejudice and Other Flavors by the same author and the way it ends definitely sets up for some companion books. So I immediately looked for said companion books…only to learn, they haven’t been published yet!

Recipe for Persuasion is a Persuasion by Jane Austen retelling which I am always down for. Not sure what to expect, as I had my hesitations with Pride and Prejudice and Other Flavors. But overall, that was a good book and I’m intrigued enough to delve back into the world it created.

Guess what comes out (probably) on February 4th?!

Okay, I kind of gave it away. Yes No Maybe So by Becky Albertalli & Aisha Saeed. It is a book aimed at YA that is about…political canvassing.

As in going door to door for a candidate.

AS IN MY FAVORITEST THING EVER!

Early reviews are definitely positive. And a book about politically engaged teenagers? I mean, that is right up my alley. I cannot wait to get a hold of this one.

What book can you not wait to be published?

Somewhere Only We Know

Title: Somewhere Only We Know by Maurene Goo

Publishing Date: May 7, 2019

Goodreads Synopsis: 10 00 p.m.: Lucky is the biggest K-pop star on the scene, and she’s just performed her hit song “Heartbeat” in Hong Kong to thousands of adoring fans. She’s about to debut on The Tonight Show in America, hopefully a breakout performance for her career. But right now? She’s in her fancy hotel, trying to fall asleep but dying for a hamburger.

11 00 p.m.: Jack is sneaking into a fancy hotel, on assignment for his tabloid job that he keeps secret from his parents. On his way out of the hotel, he runs into a girl wearing slippers, a girl who is single-mindedly determined to find a hamburger. She looks kind of familiar. She’s very cute. He’s maybe curious.

12:00 a.m.: Nothing will ever be the same.

My Reaction: K-POP STARLET.  Enough said.
(But also, Maurene Goo. I love everything she writes.)

(Is Can’t-Wait Wednesday still a thing? I am just going to hope it is because my sleep deprived brain can’t think of a better blog post right now. Consider yourself spared angst about my paper. Also I just finished typing up some blog posts for the next few days – I apologize in advance for any spelling and grammar errors. I’m seriously sleepy.)

Title: Thick as Thieves by Megan Whalen Turner

Publishing Date: May 16, 2017 (SO CLOSE!!)

Goodreads Synopsis: Kamet, a secretary and slave to his Mede master, has the ambition and the means to become one of the most powerful people in the Empire. But with a whispered warning the future he envisioned is wrenched away, and he is forced onto a very different path. Set in the world of the Queen’s Thief, an ordinary hero takes on an extraordinary mission.

I love, love, love the Queen’s Thief series. The twists, plots, and characters are just brilliant. The last book in the series was published in 2010 so IT IS ABOUT TIME this one came out! Hurray! I’m so excited!!!!!!!!!! I had forgotten there was going to be another one.

Title: Just Dreaming by Kerstin Gier

Publishing Date: May 2nd, 2017

Plot: A dream traveler faces the greatest challenge she’s yet encountered in this gripping third and final book of the Silver trilogy. The course of dream travel never did run smooth—at least, not in Liv Silver’s experience. Able to visit other people’s dreams (whether they want her to or not), Liv has solved mysteries, unearthed difficult truths, fought madmen, and escaped life-threatening peril, all from the comfort of her own bed. But Liv’s troubles are just beginning.

Kerstin Gier is a German author I’ve been reading since her book Ruby Red hit Wal Mart’s shelves. I have mixed feelings about her books but I always look forward to them getting translated. I won’t go out of my way to find this one, but I will certainly be avidly waiting for the library to get it!

I Believe in a Thing Called Love

Title: I Believe In A Thing Called Love by Maurene Goo

Publishing date: May 30th, 2017

Plot: Desi Lee knows how carburetors work. She learned CPR at the age of five. As a high school senior, she has never missed a day of school and has never had a B in her entire life. She’s for sure going to Stanford. But—she’s never had a boyfriend. In fact, she’s a disaster in romance, a clumsy, stammering humiliation-magnet whose botched attempts at flirting have become legendary with her friends. So when the hottest human specimen to have ever lived walks into her life one day, Desi decides to tackle her flirting failures with the same zest she’s applied to everything else in her life. She finds her answer in the Korean dramas her father has been obsessively watching for years—where the hapless heroine always seems to end up in the arms of her true love by episode ten. It’s a simple formula, and Desi is a quick study. Armed with her “K Drama Rules for True Love,” Desi goes after the moody, elusive artist Luca Drakos—and boat rescues, love triangles, and fake car crashes ensue. But when the fun and games turn to true feels, Desi finds out that real love is about way more than just drama.

KOREAN DRAMAS AND YOUNG ADULT FICTION.  It is the combination of two of my favorite things; I’m psyched. There is no way this book will live up to my expectations. It just isn’t possible. I also know this because the synopsis says, “where the hapless heroine always seems to end up in the arms of her true love by episode ten.” That is a blatant lie. Everyone knows that if the heroine is in her true love’s arms in episode ten, something horrible is going to happen because there are 6 more hours to go. HOWEVER, I’m super excited anyway. Hopefully this won’t be the next Girl Online
